Pomegranate Portrait

Artist's Inspiration

I composed and photographed “Pomegranate Portrait” in my Asheville studio using traditional lighting techniques.  In awe of the vibrant colors and varying shapes and textures of ripe pomegranates, artichokes, asparagus and other edibles found at the local farmers’ market, I created and photographed this still life composition using edibles with wooden and ceramic containers. The image is inspired by 17th century, still life European and Dutch painters.
