Artist's Inspiration
I photographed this Walking Iris, also known as Bearded Iris, in central Florida. Its blooming time is very short, only about two weeks, and I had missed the window of opportunity to photograph it for several years. Finally, when I found it blooming in the summer of 2017, I dropped everything I was doing and committed all of my time to capturing two fresh blossoms in my Orlando studio.
This small but beautifully detailed flower is one of my favorites. I just love the stripped patterns of the curled petals on the inside of the blossom, and the richness of its blues and yellows.
